NDIS

A rather new concept of NDIS is to offer exceptional services and funding to the people with disability. NDIS stands for National Disability Insurance Scheme and its sole purpose is to give people with special needs a chance to chalk out their own future through offering funding that matches their needs and goals.


Funded Supports

The supports granted for a participant’s plan which must be reasonable and necessary. Please refer to the reasonable and necessary to understand what it means.


Informal Support

Involves the supportsthat participant get from their close friends and family, neighbors etc.


Supports

Involves general support to help an individual undertake daily life activities and enable them to attain their goals.


Planners

The planner is the first person you’ll encounter once you are qualified for the NDIS program. He’s the one who will help you access the system, so give them all the information regarding your situation and future goals and aspirations.


Reasonable and Necessary Supports

Under NDIS reasonable and necessary support includes anything related to disability. That is it isn’t just confined to mobility equipment but rather includes every day routine tasks as well such as transport, daily tasks, education, home renovation, outings and much more. So reasonable and necessary support is anything and everything pertaining to disability.

The factors that determine your eligibility for the support are;
» Any individual under the age of 65.
» If you are an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
» Have permanent disability that hinders your day to day functioning and require others help.
» If you use special assistive technology for movement or performing routine tasks/
